The Evolution of Our Company

01. Introduction & Startup

We initiated our journey to establish our company in 2016. Our efforts were focused on extensive research aimed at manufacturing Autocare items in-house, as opposed to relying on imports. Through diligent research, we successfully formulated optimal recipes for a range of autocare items, spanning from brake oil, car wash solutions, radiator coolant, air fresheners, engine degreasers, to wax and polish.

Our research phase encompassed one year, followed by another year dedicated to securing the necessary capital for both production and value addition. We launched our business under the initial brand name '3S Autocare'. As we progressed, by late 2019, we decided to expand our operations and subsequently rebranded our enterprise as '3S Marketing'.

02. Marketing strategies and Operations

At the first stage, we built a strong customer base through direct sales to service stations, oil marts, and automobile spare parts shops in the Uva, Central, and North Central provinces. Initially, our primary goal was to gain the trust of people as we were new to the business. Gradually, we expanded our customer base within those provinces, reaching a percentage of 40%. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, we maintained consistent pricing, which helped us establish and retain the trust of our customers. Subsequently, we extended our distribution network to include Gampola, Bandarawela, Ampara, Matara, and Colombo.

Finally, upon analyzing the market, we discovered that the majority of products lacked good quality. In contrast, we offer products of high quality at a reasonable price. As a result, other companies are now upholding both the quality and price standards, influenced by our practices.

03.Production staff and Marketing team

We primarily employ 8 full-time laborers and 2 part-time laborers for our production process. They receive salaries ranging from thirty thousand to sixty thousand rupees, based on their work over 20 days. Rather than offering a fixed salary, we utilize a commission-based payment structure, which is both efficient and equitable considering the nature of our business. It's worth noting that we exclusively hire women who are currently unemployed.

Turning to our distributors and cash collectors, the majority of them come from modest backgrounds. They are all individuals of the middle class, and our collaboration has notably improved their quality of life. Additionally, we have two cash collectors dedicated to the tasks of recovering overdue payments and addressing bounced cheques. Furthermore, we employ two drivers to deliver our products to distributors, wholesale customers, and for direct company sales.

Mainly, we have five distributors and three wholesale customers.
